How It All Began
Hi, we are Nathaniel and Isabel—siblings, co-founders, and friends. GlassCream has been a project waiting to happen since our childhood. Our earliest memory of glass-recycling was when we lived in suburban Bangalore—the Silicon Valley of India. On Saturdays, we would exchange glass bottles for money with the glass-collector who appeared like clockwork at our doorstep every week. With the money in hand, we would bike to the nearby corner-shop to buy the 20-rupee Cadbury Chocolate bar—a sweet reward for our recycling efforts.
Ever since we returned to America in 2010, we spend time and fuel disposing of household glass bottles into the purple dumpster set in the parking lot of the Great Falls Library—a 15 minute drive from our home. Our recycling experience in India got us thinking—why hasn’t the world’s largest economy caught up on glass-recycling sustainability? GlassCream is the result of that question.
